The Problem We're Solving
Crypto signal providers operate in a verification vacuum. There's no equivalent of BarclayHedge for crypto fund performance, no regulated brokerage statements for most crypto traders, no centralised exchange reporting. Any provider can claim any return, and most do. Our Scam Watch tracks the worst offenders.
Our methodology is designed to cut through self-reported claims and evaluate providers on what can actually be verified. The result is deliberately harsh — only 4 out of 47 reviewed providers passed our verification threshold. See our full rankings for the results.
The Six Criteria
1. Verified Track Record
WEIGHT: 30%The single most important criterion. Can the provider's trading performance be independently verified? We grade from "independently audited competition results" (highest) down through "platform-verified data" to "self-reported screenshots" (lowest). Self-reported returns with no external verification score 2/10 maximum.
2. Signal Transparency
WEIGHT: 20%Can you see the provider's methodology? Are signals timestamped? Can entries and exits be verified after the fact? On-chain verifiable signals score highest. Telegram messages with no timestamps score lowest. We also evaluate whether the provider explains their reasoning or just posts "BUY NOW."
3. Risk Management
WEIGHT: 15%Does the provider include stop-losses? Position sizing guidance? Maximum drawdown parameters? Providers who encourage maximum leverage on every trade with no stop-losses score zero here. Providers with clear risk frameworks and position sizing score highest.
4. Exchange & Platform Risk
WEIGHT: 15%Does following this provider require depositing funds on a specific exchange? If so, what's the risk profile of that exchange? Have they had security breaches? Are they regulated? Providers that are exchange-agnostic score higher than those tied to a single platform.
5. Value
WEIGHT: 10%Cost relative to what you get. A $20/month service covering multiple markets scores higher on value than a $200/month service covering one. We also consider whether the provider's primary revenue is subscriptions (aligned with your interests) or exchange affiliate kickbacks (misaligned).
6. Community & Support
WEIGHT: 10%Responsive support, educational content, community engagement. This is the lowest-weighted criterion because community quality doesn't directly impact signal quality — but it matters for user experience and ongoing education.
Verification Tiers
Every provider receives one of four verification badges:
- AUDITED — Trading performance independently verified by third parties. This includes two distinct verification types: (1) externally audited competition results, where a trader competes under third-party supervision with real capital — this verifies the trader's skill directly; and (2) platform-verified trade data, where an exchange or platform maintains an independent record of every trade — this verifies the trades, though not necessarily the trader's identity or methodology. Both are legitimate forms of auditing. In our current rankings, the #1-ranked provider qualifies through competition auditing and Bybit Copy Trading through platform auditing.
- PARTIAL — Some verification available (tracked bot data, published analysis consistent with positions) but not comprehensive
- SELF-REPORTED — Returns are claimed by the provider with no external verification. Screenshots, spreadsheets, verbal claims
- NONE — No performance data provided at all, or data that cannot be evaluated (anonymous operators, no history)
Any provider with "SELF-REPORTED" or "NONE" verification is capped at 5.5/10 maximum overall score, regardless of other criteria. This is a deliberate design choice. If you can't verify the returns, the rest doesn't matter. Learn why in our guide to identifying crypto signal scams.
Independence
Crypto Signal Authority has no affiliate relationships with any reviewed provider. We do not accept sponsored reviews, paid placements, or advertising. No provider can pay to improve their ranking.
Our research is funded independently. We exist because the crypto signal market is 95% noise and someone needs to document that clearly.
Update Schedule
Full rankings are reviewed quarterly. Individual reviews are updated when material changes occur — security breaches, significant performance shifts, business model changes, new verification data, or scam warnings.
